Everglades National Park

The Everglades are really close to Miami - about 40 minutes west - so we decided to make the drive to check out the alligators, and hopefully go on an airboat ride! We went to the popular Gator Park, and it ticked all the boxes.

The airboat ride was lots of fun, although Luke was a little unsure! As it is all swampland, the only way to see the Everglades off the main highway is by boat. We saw one alligator early on, a few turtles and birds, but it was the fanging around in a couple of inches of water that was the highlight!

After the boat ride, we enjoyed a nature talk and the guide was really funny. He referred to himself as an "alligator wrestler" but as you can see from this video, the alligator was pretty compliant. Livvy place herself in the back row - as she was quietly petrified.

In contrast, when there was a chance to hold "Larry" the baby gator, and Thomas was the first one in line! Little brother keen to do the same.
