Cody Stampede - Rodeo!!

Given that Cody is considered the Rodeo Capital of the World, attending an official rodeo night was pretty exciting - especially, in the Stampede week which is July 1 to 4 every year. Top cowboys from across the USA come to Cody for the Stampede and it is often called "Cowboy Christmas". Rodeo is the only sport derived from an industry, Ranching.

It was a gorgeous night and the setting of the sun added to the atmosphere.

In contrast the the Xtreme Bull Riding the night before, there are various events which make up the Rodeo. First up is Bareback riding.....

Team Roping....

Steer wrestling.....

Then Saddle Bronc Riding......

Tie-down Roping...

For the cowgirls, Barrel Racing.....

And finally, the Bull Riding.

We were all pretty weary by the time it finished at 11pm, and Thomas fell asleep on the way home in the bus. Luke was a little trooper and seemed to love the whole night - Livvy said she "sort-of liked it, but it went for too long". Bless!
