Loving Waikiki

We arrived in Waikiki on Sunday afternoon, and are staying in a great 2 bed apartment with a fabulous location! It's been great to have some extra space and a separate room for the kids after squeezing into a single hotel room for nearly two weeks. Plus we were upgraded to an ocean view apartment (7th floor - see below) which has been lovely bonus.

Whilst crazy busy with tourists, it is a really fun area to stay! There is so much on your door step - including a great beach, with a number of small surf breaks to choose from for Trent. There are loads of restaurants and shops, and many buses/tour companies etc to help check out the hot spots. There doesn't seem to be a quiet period in the day, as the shopping and busking action goes well into the night.

We've heard a few more Aussie accents around Waikiki, and there are plenty of American students celebrating graduations (school year end for northern hemisphere) - with some family groups having had t-shirts made up with the name of the graduating student - cute!?! But the majority of the tourists (by far) are the Japanese, and hence the shopping centres are AMAZING!! However, this also means Livvy, Thomas and Luke are photographed 3 or 4 times every outing - even waiting for the lift to our apartment! Luke's white blonde hair in particular blows them away.

Did you know?: The melodious hawaiian language is a polynesian dilalect, with only 13 letters (A, E, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, P, U, W) including the 'okina' ( ' ) which is a glottal stop and considered a consonant. Eg, Hawai'i - officially. I kept thinking all the names looked the same!
